Dusshera Kanya Pooja - Nav Durga Pooja

Nine young girls ( More are welcome or young kids all with parents) representing the nine forms of Goddess Durga (Navadurga) are worshiped. It is a custom to wash the feet of these nine young girls as a mark of respect for the Goddess and then offer new clothes as gifts by the devotee. Kanya Puja as a part of Devi worship is to recognize the feminine power vested in the girl child. The function would begin after the Lalita Sahastranama recital which would be at 6.30 pm that day. The Kanya Pooja would be followed by Prasadam to all devotees.
