2012 Pongal Celebration And Kolam Competition

Like last several years, we celebrated the 2012 Pongal Vizha and Kolam Competition  at Alumni Village's Recreation Hall, Tallahassee, Florida 32304, USA on Saturday, January 14, 2012 between 6:00 and 9:45 PM.  We had lot more attendees this year (close to 100 people came). Like prior years Mr Manoharan and Mrs Priya helped us organize the event.  This year we continued the tradition of doing in-door kolam drawings.  First, we affixed black plastic table-cloths  to the floor (about six in number). This year we have six adult teams and one children's team began to draw and paint the kolam with white and colored powders. Kolams were judged by five independent people and prizes awarded to first, second, and participation prizes.

Bhanu and Mani Priya's team won the second prize. We also collected money for future programs. As I am setting down from Presidency of India Association of Tallahassee this month, I plan to spend more energy on the Tallahassee Tamil Sangam and its activities.
