PakFest USA is proud to announce the 30th Annual Pakistan Festival on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Bull Run Park-Special Events Center, Centreville, VA.  The festival will showcase Pakistan’s rich culture and heritage through traditional live dance and music, Pakistani Bazaar offering art, crafts, jewelry, fashion, and authentic cuisine.  Experience a day full of activities, by spending a day in Pakistan!

Pakistani-Americans organize 30th annual festival in DMV 

The Pakistani-American community will celebrate the 69th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence on August 14, 2016 at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville, Virginia.  

This year’s festival, being held for the 30th consecutive year, will start at noon and end at dusk. The festival is open to the public and plenty of free parking is available. 

This festival has become a popular tradition in the DMV area, attended by thousands not only from DC, Maryland, and Virginia, but also from other states.   This festival showcases Pakistani-American life, culture, and achievements.   It also offers the Pakistani-American community a sense of pride in its exceptional accomplishments in arts, science, business, and engineering and an inspiration for universal support on human rights and dignity. 

As in previous years, attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of Pakistani Food, including   kabobs, biryani, haleem, samosas, vegetarian delicacies, and various sweets. For children and young adults alike, there will be many forms of entertainment such as carnival rides, cotton candy, face painting, henna tattoos, funnel cake, shaved ice and other ethnic delicacies.  Vendors and artisans will exhibit Pakistani handicrafts, jewelry, fashion apparel as well as business services and promotions.  

The highlight of the evening will be performance by folk and popular singers from Pakistan, some young and aspiring and some already legendary in style and appeal.  Indian, Afghani, and Iranian classical dances will also be perform to show support and solidarity with the Pakistani-American community. 

Zahid Hameedi, Chief Organizer of Pakistan Festival USA said, “the main objective of this annual event is to cherish the rich history and traditions of Pakistan, and share the colorful, multi-ethnic heritage of its people”.  The festival offers a special venue for youth and adults alike for developing friendships, inter-generational dialogue, and outreach both, within the communities and across borders. 

As in previous years, the Governor of Maryland and that of Commonwealth of Virginia would issue proclamations recognizing Pakistan Festival USA.
