Bay Area Science Championship
Annual Science Contest for Grades 1–6

Objectives

• To build a strong foundation in core science concepts.
• To provide students with a competitive and intellectually stimulating environment.

About the Contest

The Bay Area Science Championship is an annual science competition designed for elementary and middle school students (Grades 1 to 6).
Our mission is to cultivate curiosity, scientific thinking, and a love for discovery in young learners, inspiring them to excel in STEM education.

Each grade level is provided with a unique set of science questions carefully aligned to their age, academic level, and comprehension. The questions cover three key topics: The Universe, Plants, and Animals.

Contest Format

• Duration: 40 minutes
• Questions: 30–32 creative, grade-appropriate multiple-choice questions
• Tools: No calculators or reference materials allowed
• Format: Individual participation
• Location: In-person at designated test centers
• Materials Provided: MCQ sheets and worksheets

Our Unique Approach

• Tailored & Engaging Questions: Each grade level receives its own set of science problems, aligned with their academic stage and understanding. Questions will be from 3 topics -  the Universe, Plants, and Animals.

• Fair Competition Among Peers: Students compete only with others in their same grade, ensuring fairness and age-appropriate challenges.

Recognition & Awards

• Top 3 Winners (per grade): Medals + Achievement Certificates
(Multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions may be awarded regionally)
• All Participants: Certificate of Participation
• Leaderboard: Winners will be featured on the official leaderboard
• Notifications: Winners will be informed via email

Finals Invitation

All 1st Place Winners from each location will be invited to compete in the Final Round to determine the overall Bay Area Science Olympiad Champion.

The top three finalists will be awarded:
• 1st Position – Bay Area Science Champion
• 2nd Position – First Runner-up
• 3rd Position – Second Runner-up

Assessment Criteria

• Scoring:
+1 mark for each correct answer
0 marks for incorrect or unanswered questions

Rules & Regulations

*All questions are in English.
*The contest is for individual participants only.
*Participants must fill in all required details on the answer sheet; incomplete entries will be disqualified.
*Contest duration is 60 minutes, and the test can only be attempted once.
*No calculators, books, or electronic devices allowed.
*Cheating or misconduct will result in immediate disqualification.
*The top 3 scorers per grade will be announced on January 25, 2025.
*Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or alternatives.
*The decision of the organizers is final and binding.
