Gujarati population, in Atlanta, in the sixties was less than 50 families and migration to Atlanta started in early seventies. Most of the people who migrated to Atlanta earlier were engineering and medical professionals. Then in late seventies there was a surge when many ventured in businesses mainly in motel business.Looking from a distance, or from historical perspective, it feels some years are more memorable than others since they brought our goodness from within. They were years with lots of ups and downs, however, they made us stronger! Just like a crisis makes a man stronger at the end!
First of all I wanted to thank each and every one for giving me an opportunity to serve as president of Gujarati samaj of Atlanta which is the largest and one of the oldest organizations in Atlanta. It is special honor and privilege to begin my term as president of the samaj. Our outgoing president Mr. Vasudev Patel along with his entire team deserves an enormous thank you from all of us who have guided us for last couple of years and have put samaj on path of prosperity. I would like to build upon his success. His shoes are impossible for me to fill but I pray to god to give me enough strength and guidance so I can do justice to the position which has been filled by so many distinguished and elite members of Gujarati society of Atlanta.
