Today it is one of the oldest and vibrant organization in the tristate area serving the Gujarati and other communities. Original By-Laws of the Samaj was approved in 1974 and later in August 1996 the by-Laws were amended in order to provide stability and thus further strengthen the Samaj as it enters to the next millennium.
As of today the Samaj life membership has reached over 2300. Over last 38 years the Samaj has conducted several activities to promote Gujarati/Indian religious and culture and amongst tristate New York area residents. In 1985 the Samaj acquired its own 12,000 sf center located in Fresh Meadows, Queens, New York. The Center can accommodate up to 700 people. The center is used mainly for Samaj activites. In 2009-2010 the Center was rehabilitated. Several thousand members of the tristate area are using the Center for family events. In addition several other ethnic organizations are taking benefit of the central location to conduct their events at the center.
