The Smith Middle School faculty, administration and parents believe that a sound education is necessary to prepare our students for the world they will inherit. In order to accomplish this goal, all faculty and staff at Smith Middle School will:
- TEACH students to have respect for themselves, all people in their community, their country and the world
- FOSTER in students a need to accept responsibility for their behavior and to take an active part in their own learning
- CHALLENGE all students to reach their potential in the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, computation and critical thinking
- PROMOTE in students a love of learning, aesthetic appreciation and intellectual curiosity
- CREATE a physically and emotionally safe environment that recognizes and provides for the developmental needs of the adolescent student
