actress Neetu Chandra in the title role, "Umrao Jaan" promises to
transport audiences into 19th century Lucknow - a world of nawabs, courtesans
and timeless love. With evocative lyrics penned by Shahryar and Irfan Siddique
and an enchanting original score composed by the legendary Khayyam and
Salim-Sulaiman, this musical is guaranteed to strike a chord in your heart.
Helmed by noted director Rajeev Goswami, the story
follows the journey of Amiran who is kidnapped as a child and sold to a brothel
in Lucknow. Forced to embrace the profession of a courtesan and rechristened
Umraao Jaan Ada, her life is irrevocably transformed, especially after she
meets and falls desperately in love with Nawab Sultan. What ensues is a
tumultuous relationship spanning decades, inseparable despite the cruelty of
circumstances and societal norms that conspire to keep them apart.
As Umrao Jaan's all-consuming love and inner turmoil,
Neetu Chandra is sure to deliver a career-defining performance. Alongside a
stellar supporting cast and crew, she will breathe tangible life into this
tragic saga - immortalized in Ruswa's novel and further popularized by Muzaffar
