Varun Thakur Biography
Varun Thakur, born on April 20, 1987, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is a prominent Indian actor, comedian, and YouTuber. He completed his early education at Jai Hind College in Mumbai and furthered his studies at the University of Bristol in England.
Thakur's foray into comedy began when friends encouraged him to participate in an open mic night, which he won, marking the start of his journey in stand-up comedy. He co-founded Schitzengiggles Comedy (SnG), a group specializing in stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy. His observational humor, particularly about life in India, has garnered him significant recognition.
In addition to his comedy career, Thakur has made notable appearances in Bollywood films, including a role in "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (2012), alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma. He has also anchored shows on channels such as MTV, MTV Indies, UTV Bindaas, and hosted a cricket-based show for Hotstar.
Thakur's versatility extends to digital platforms, where he has created content that resonates with a broad audience. His stand-up special, "Vicky This Side, Varun That Side," is available on Amazon Prime. He also co-hosts the podcast "The Internet Said So" (TISS), further showcasing his comedic talents.
On December 7, 2021, Varun Thakur married Nikita Sahota. His mother, Sashi Thakur, has been a supportive presence throughout his career.
