1000 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City is home to Hard Rock Live, a multipurpose arena that was once known as Etess Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Originally part of the Trump Taj Mahal, the arena opened in April 1990 and can accommodate over 5,000 people for sporting and musical events.
The stadium bears Mark Grossinger Etess's name, who died in a helicopter crash in October 1989 while serving as the COO and former president of Trump Plaza.
Though the Trump Taj Mahal had an Indian motif, the Etess Arena was modern, inspired by the English club scene.
Elton John gave the inaugural concert at the location on May 18, 1990. Originally, Donald Trump was negotiating for Madonna to open the facility as part of her Blond Ambition World Tour.
