Event Details , Makara Sankranthi, Pongal, Lohri Austin Hindu Temple is pleased to announce that we'll be celebrating Makara Sankranthi, also called Makara Sankramana in Kannada or Pongal in Tamil or Uttarayan in Hindi, on January 13th 2018 (Saturday). We are celebrating this event at our Temple and we hope that together we all can make it a grand success. As part of the Sankranthi celebrations we have various traditional events planned including Rangoli competitions, Haridasu bhajans (he who sings the praises of Lord Hari) culminating in a traditional dinner.The festival is dedicated to the Aditya (Sun god) and marks the six months auspicious period for Hindus known as Uttaarayan.
