known as the "Modern Rafi", a monicker given to him after his musical

Sonu Nigam was born in 1973 in Faridabad, Haryana, India. He started singing at four with his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, who was also a singer. He moved to Mumbai at 19 to pursue his Bollywood singing career. Sonu Nigam trained under Hindustani classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
