38442 Washington Common, Fremont, CA
Established in 1891, Washington High School was the second high school in California to be created under the Union High School Law passed by the California state legislature. We are centrally located in the City of Fremont and one of five comprehensive high schools in the Fremont Unified School District.
The school was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in March 2010, with a six year accreditation which extends through June 2016. In October 2006, we received a Small Learning Community Grant which has helped us better meet the needs of our students by allowing us to implement new programs, receive professional development, create “Families” in the 9th and 10th grades and begin work on establishing a true professional learning community.
Washington High School offers strong curricular and extracurricular programs. Our focus is on student achievement in all areas of life, including scholastics, athletics, the arts and social development. Since 2008, our API has increased from 736 to 784. In 2009, Washington High School was named a California Distinguished High School.
Parking in the Washington High lot is a privilege given to seniors in good standing based on a lottery of the available spaces. In order to obtain a parking permit, seniors must pay a $10 fee per semester, possess a driver’s license and provide current vehicle registration information and proof of insurance. Parking spaces are assigned.
A student’s parking privileges may be revoked if any of the following occur: GPA falls below 2.0, suspension from school, two referrals to SRC or truancy letter sent.
Schedule Changes: With administrative approval.
