Cali-diwali - Presented By Project Ahimsa Plus The Desai Foundation

Project Ahimsa and the Desai Foundation are proud to present the 1st Diwali event of its kind with music, food & vibes! Featuring DJ Anjali & the Incredible Kid (the iconic Portland DJ duo behind Tropitaal- a Desi-Latino sound) & Bobby Friction (BBC radio).

This event is to raise funds to expand the Desai Foundation's Asani Sanitary Napkin program to Rajasthan - this means menstrual health hygiene education, production and distribution of hundreds of villages in India.

This event will also support Project Ahimsa's goal to support eduction grants for 16 children in Gujarat that are part of Manav Sadhna NGO responsible the Jai Jagat arts program.

MORE ABOUT The Desai Foundation's Asani Program
We have a full and thorough MHM awareness program that is already running in the Tonk district of Rajasthan. The money raised from this event will go towards a semi-automatic machine that produces 5,000 pads a day, and requires 13 local women to work the machine. The pads are 80% biodegradable and are retail quality - like what you can buy in store - unlike the pads that have been getting a lot of buzz in Bollywood and Hollywood. We then work with the local women to educate and empower them as our distribution team. They move door to door breaking the stigma around access and distributing at a highly subsidies rate.
