Sabri brothers Biography

The Sabri Brothers (Punjabi, Urdu} were a legendary musical band from Pakistan, renowned for their soulful performances of Sufi qawwali music. They shared a deep connection with the Chishti Order and are regarded as some of the greatest Sufi qawwali singers of all time.

The group was led by Ghulam Farid Sabri and his brother Maqbool Ahmed Sabri, who earned the title of Shahenshah-e-Qawwali (King of Kings of Qawwali). The Sabri Brothers were also celebrated as the "roving ambassadors of Pakistan" due to their global representation of the country's rich musical heritage.

The band was initially founded by Maqbool Ahmed Sabri at the young age of 11 and was originally known as the Bacha Qawwal Party. After encouragement from their father, Ghulam Farid Sabri joined the group, eventually becoming its leader. Under his guidance, the band gained immense popularity and became widely recognized as the Sabri Brothers.

The Sabri Brothers achieved several historic milestones, becoming the first-ever qawwali artists to perform in the United States and other Western countries. They also made history as the first Asian artists to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1975.
