Shreyas Puranik

Shreyas Puranik is a young singer, composer and an ambitious teenager who aspires to go ahead in the field of music. He has composed ‘One Message Received’ sung by the amazing singers Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. He also did the ‘Safety Anthem’ for the Bharat Petroleum. Later,he was the assistant music director of ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ Shreyas was nominated for the Mirchi Music Awards for Critic’s Choice of Upcoming Music Composer for the year 2016. He was born on 2nd June in Nagpur and his family lives in the Pratap Nagar. His family shifted to Chhattisgarh, and they lived there for six years.

He was fond of singing from the age of 3 years and at the age of 5 years he gave his first stage performance. He completed his graduation in Bachelors of Commerce from the Mithibai College, Mumbai. It was then, when he started composing and became a composer unknowingly. He also started learning music at the Gurukul by Suresh Wadkar. He used to wake up early for Gurukul and then attend the college. After coming to Mumbai, he entirely changed and became a better person, though his love and passion for music did improve a lot, he nevergot depressed by failure or rejections. His friends in Gurukul, the Indian Idol Rahul Vadiya and Navraj, Hans Raj Hans son helped him a lot, and after 2010, his life started getting much better. He says that he wants to achieve great success as a singer.

He has a unique voice, though he is not into fusion singing, he in more interested in Hindi Bollywood and Pop music. Western music and style are not much of his taste. He wants to sing those songs which he sings from his heart, and its melodies should always touch the listener’s hearts. Singers like RD Burman, Mohammad Rafi, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh are his favourites. For the time being, he wants to work with the experienced people, but later, he would love to do more of his own and independent music. He also wishes to setup a studio of his own. His guru Suresh Wadkar introduced his amazing work as a composer to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Sanjay loved his work and immediately signed him as an assistant for the blockbuster movie ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ It was indeed a huge platform to get started with his career. He also initiated in the Marathi industry by composing in the movie ‘Photocopy.’ Shreyas also made songs for the album ‘Morey Piya’ by Suresh Wadkar and his wife, Padma Wadkar. He also worked as music directorin ‘Ishq Uncensored' and ‘Bombay Mumbai.
