The carnatic progressive rock genre a revolutionary musical form: carnatic progressive rock is a genre that agam has single-handedly created and defined. This innovative musical style takes the ancient, mathematically precise ragas (melodic frameworks) and complex rhythmic cycles of carnatic musica 2,000-year-old south indian classical tradition and channels them through the instrumental power and compositional complexity of progressive rock.

What makes it unique:

Raga-based compositions: unlike western scales, carnatic ragas contain microton- al variations and emotional nuances that create entirely new sonic landscapes When complex time signatures played on electric instruments: traditional carnatic rhythmic cycles (talas) naturally align with progressive rock's love for odd meters and polyrhythms improvisational elements: the classical indian tradition of improvisation brings spontaneity to structured rock compositions

Agam is a contemporary Carnatic progressive rock band based in Bangalore, India. Known for their distinctive blend of classical South Indian Carnatic music with the energy and instrumentation of progressive rock, Agam has carved out a unique space in the Indian music scene. The band was formed in 2003 by a group of passionate musicians, most of whom are alumni of BITS Pilani.

His diverse interest in music ranging from progressive metal to ghazals plays a crucial role in shaping agam's pioneering sound.

Visionary and prodigious praveen's style of playing the guitar has come to define the signature agam sound through the years. Often acknowledged as one of the best lead guitarists in the indian indie music circuit praveen is a key pillar of agam's path-breaking sound.

Swamy seetharaman keyboards

A self-taught keyboardist - swamy breaths life to the lush background layers and the rich orchestral sound that's at the core of agam's music. In addition to being an incredible live artist, swamy is also a poet, who pens the lyrics in tamil for agam.

Shiva nagarajan multi-percussionist

With his ability to play an eclectic set of percus-sions from all over the world, shiva assimilates these diverse sounds to the music that agam creates, giving it an inspiringly fresh sound.

Aditya kashyap bass

Kashyap's unconventional approach to playing the bass guitar stems from his years of playing diverse forms of music. From funk to rock to carnatic he can play them all, with such suave and flair that's uniquely and unabashedly himself.

Yadhunandan nagaraj drums

A versatile drummer with influences ranging from indian traditional music to extreme metal, yadhu brings with him years of experience as a live musician. His signature style is inimitable and original and has played with some of the biggest names in indian mainstream and independent music.
