Vijay Iyer Trio

Vijay Iyer remains the most commanding jazz pianist and composer to emerge in years, of whom The New York Times said “There’s probably no frame wide enough to encompass his creative output.” Harvard professor and 2013 MacArthur Fellow, he is serving this season as Performance Artist in Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has the knack of making prickly experimentalism feel approachable, intuitive, and even stylish. His superb trio (who have been playing together for 12 years) is completed by bassist Stephen Crumpand drummer Tyshawn Sorey, and was Downbeat Magazine’s 2015 Jazz Group of the Year.
