Iman Chakraborty Biography
Iman is one of the most talented upcoming Rabindrasangeet & folk singer, her way of singing, her presence on the stage and her quality of voice has been widely appriciated.
Iman started learning music at a very tender age. Besides Rabindrasangeet she has learned Hindusthani Classical music and folk songs from different part of India.
Iman Chakraborty is very open to newer ideas and concepts. But this does not mean that she is not singing in the traditional format.
Iman Chakraborty is a good quality songster who developed the knowledge of all kinds of songs. The lucidity and great style of her singing attracts the attention of the mass. People are more inclined towards her way of expression when she sings.
Born and brought up in a home where music is a way of life, Iman Chakraborty has been exposed liberally from a tender age to Rabindrasangeet and folk music. She has, over her most formative years, imbibed a deep love for and identification with Tagore songs and folk songs, which has helped her choose a career in interpreting and propagating these forms of music over other paths she might have taken.
Her proper training has helped her in a deeper appreciation of the intellectual expanse and richness of the music she practices. She hopes, with the growing encouragement and appreciation she is receiving, to be able to take this cultural heritage forward into and beyond her generation.
