Amruta Khanvilkar is a celebrated Indian actress and producer, known for her dynamic presence in both Marathi and Hindi cinema. Born on November 23, 1984, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, she has become one of the highest-paid actresses in Marathi films.
Early Life and Education
Raised in a Marathi family, Amruta is the daughter of Ajit and Gauri Khanvilkar and has a younger sister named Aditi. Her early education took place at Mahila Sangh School in Mumbai. Following the 1993 Mumbai attacks, her family relocated to Pune, where she continued her studies at Karnataka High School and later graduated from Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce. From a young age, Amruta had a passion for dance, although her father was initially hesitant about her pursuing it.
Career Highlights
Amruta's career began in 2004 as a contestant on Zee TV's talent hunt show India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj. She made her Marathi film debut with Golmaal (2006) and entered Hindi cinema with Mumbai Salsa (2007). She gained significant recognition for her Lavani dance performance "Wajale Ki Bara" in the Marathi film Natarang (2010). Her performance in Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015) was critically acclaimed, earning her nominations at the Maharashtra State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards Marathi.
In Hindi cinema, Amruta appeared in notable films such as Raazi (2018) and Malang (2020). She also made her mark in the digital space with the web series Damaged. Her portrayal of the titular character in the Marathi film Chandramukhi (2022) received widespread acclaim.

Beyond films, Amruta has been active on television. She won the dance reality show Nach Baliye 7 and participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10. Additionally, she has hosted shows like Dance Maharashtra Dance – Season 1 (2012), Dance India Dance 6, and Famously Filmfare Marathi (2019).
