Playback vocalist Gayatri Asokan primarily performs in Malayalam movies. With the song "Deena Dayalo Rama" for the movie Arayannagalude Veedu for music director Raveendran, she began her playback career. She received the 2003 Kerala State Film Award for Best Singer for Sasneham Sumitra's song "Enthe Nee Kanna." Chanjadi Adi from Makalkku, Thumbikkinnaram from Naran, and Pularumo from Ritu are some of the other songs she has recorded.At Trichur, Gayatri received her initial training in Carnatic music from Sri Mangat Natesan and Sri Vamanan Namboodiri. She later began studying Hindustani music in Pune under Dr. Alka Deo Marulkar and later in Bangalore with Pandit Vinayaka Torvi.
